| Blackcap (Sylvia atricapilla): A common bird in Sweden, usually a good singer,
but this one is a Pavarotti compared to
others I've heard.
It was mid of June 1991, sunny and lots of mosquitoes,
which makes it hard to hold a parabol
without handling noise. This blackcap was sitting about
20 meters away, about 10 meters
above ground, singing with an energy never heard before.
The equipment used was a Telinga PRO3 with the first
generation stereo microphone.
The DAT was a Sony TCD-D3. It was digitally transferred
to my PC by a Tascam DA-P1.
I used WaveLab to do filtering (-6db at 3khz) -
normalized to -6db and finally
had it decoded to MP3 at 112kbps 48k, HQ.
Using a modem, it takes a while. It's worth it. Then use
good headphones, sit back
and enjoy. Don't play louder than what it would be in
real life.
All the best,
Klas.
